About the Author
Christopher Norton has spent the past eighteen years conducting paleoanthropological research in China, Korea, and Japan. Of those eighteen years, Norton has spent more than eight years actually living in those respective countries learning not only the paleoanthropology, but the cultures and languages as well. This has allowed Norton to develop a broader, regional scope for his research. This has facilitated his previous research and was the primary impetus for proposing this comprehensive synthesis of the current state of research in Asian paleoanthropology. The co-editor, David Braun, works primarily in Africa. However, we both agreed that comparative research between Africa and Asia was critical to fully comprehending both regional records. Wonderful Holiday Book!!

The Biggest series is super adorable I love them and so do my 5 children, I like to read how the 2 little mice always seem to work out the problem in the end of each story. The illustrations are wonderful so are the length of the books. Some books now can look small but be jammed with words. Being over wordy in a children's book is not good. These books are not too wordy they give details, spike your attention every page. The Biggest Christmas Tree Ever by Steve Kroll is great for children 3 and up. We recommend you put them on your Christmas list!

Simple and entertaining

This is almost a version of city mouse country mouse, except these two friends from different families, come together and work together to make everyone happy. I liked the way the two main characters have their story told, side by side, allowing children to see the clear similarities. A nice story which became a fast favourite with the kids (3yrs & 6yrs).

It's nice selection for a good price

This little introduction to the Lindisfarne gospels has clearly written essays and a nice selection of the carpet pages and illuminations. I don't know if the reproductions are true to life as I've never seen the Lindisfarne gospels but they are attractive and suitable for a book with such a low price. I would recommend this little guide if you are interested in insular manuscripts and want an introduction to the Lindisfarne gospels. Only one strange thing--the Book of Kells is never mentioned in the essays and I would think it would be, since they are such related works.

I cannot praise the Lindisfarne Gospels enough, although by that I mean the actual Lindisfarne Gospels, which in my opinion contain the greatest illustrations and insular majuscule script of any manuscript. Janet Backhouse's book has enough large, color photographs and details of the script to make it a worthwhile purchase for anyone interested in medieval illustration and calligraphy. Get it for your friend who thinks that the Book of Kells is the only illuminated manuscript.
